Lydens Dominates At SCIAC Multi-Duals

La Mirada, Calif. - Junior Annie Lydens (Tokyo, Japan) dominated the field at the annual SCIAC Multi-Duals, finishing with a time of 21:46, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the second-place competitor, at La Mirada Park on Saturday morning.

The Sagehens finished with a 4-3 record at the Multi-Duals, as it came in fourth at the event, finishing ahead of La Verne, Caltech, Redlands and Cal Lutheran. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team title, while Whittier was second and Occidental was third.

It was the second straight event where Lydens has finished first, after she also captured the individual title at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 1 with a time of 21:03.9, setting a new event record. Lydens easily out-distanced Jennifer Tave of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (22:14.97) at the SCIAC Multi-Duals, while Toccoa Kahovec was third (22:29.57).

CMS then had the fourth through seventh place finishers, to win the team title by a wide margin.

Junior Naomi Wagner (La Jolla, Calif.) was the second finisher for the Sagehens, coming in with a time of 23:53.40, good for 29th place. Junior Roxanne Cook (La Canada, Calif.) was in 33rd place with a time of 24:10.43, while senior Leslie Canter (Austin, Texas) was 41st at 24:35.79.

The Sagehens return to action in two weeks for the SCIAC Championships.
