The Pomona-Pitzer women’s cross country team left their old PRs in the dust of the citrus groves at the UC Riverside Invitational last weekend. Sophomore Annie Lydens led the team through the five kilometer course with a blazing 18:09 finish— about a minute and a half faster than she ran on the same course last year. First years Dot Silverman and Claire Brickson also improved their PRs significantly, running 18:34 and 18:50, respectively. Closing out the top five were sophomores Naomi Wagner (19:17) and Roxanne Cook (19:20).
More impressive than any individual accomplishment, however, is the fact that these five young ladies collectively strung together the fastest team time ever on the UC Riverside course and the second fastest 5k team time in PPXC history.
The remainder of the team ran strongly in the open race, with both Hannah McConnell and Emily Meyer shaving 39 seconds off their PRs.
