With her 5000m national qualifying mark, sophomore Annie Lydens led the Sagehens at the home 2011 Pomona-Pitzer Invite Saturday. Over 1300 athletes from all collegiate levels competed in the meet from morning to dusk.
Lydens took second in the 5000m run with a time of 17:23.29 -- a mark that is #2 all-time for Pomona-Pitzer behind Alicia Freese's 16:42.65 from last season. Lydens's mark also lands her on the NCAA National qualifying lists in that event. In other strong marks for the Sagehens, frosh Alana Shine clocked a huge PR of 5:11.08 in the 1500m, Naomi Wagner ran a PR 18:53.69 in the 5000m, Kayla Eland ran 19:03.72 in the 5000m, Isabelle Ambler clocked a PR 68.31 in the 400 hurdles, and Gracie Bialecki triple jumped a strong 32-7.
Pomona-Pitzer competes this coming Saturday across the street at the CMS track, scoring in dual meets against CMS, La Verne and Caltech.
