Women's Tennis Takes 8-1 Win Over Cal Lutheran
Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Sophomore Mae Coyiuto and senior Arthi Padmanabhan (pictured) won at No. 1 doubles and then took their singles matches at No. 2 and No. 3 as the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team earned an 8-1 win at Cal Lutheran on Saturday.
With the win, the Sagehens improve to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in the SCIAC. Cal Lutheran slips to 3-11 overall and 1-6 in SCIAC play.
Coyiuto and Padmanabhan earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, with Coyiuto moving on for a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Padmanabhan also added a singles win at No. 3 by a 6-0, 6-2 final.
Freshman Maddie Gordon and Rosemary Pelch also did the singles/doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Gordon won her match at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-0, while Pelch earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 5.
The Sagehens also earned contributions from three other members of its senior class, as Alex Antonoplis and Constance Wu swept to an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles, while Claire Willey took a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Pomona-Pitzer plays its final regular season home match next Friday, when it travels to Whittier for a 2 p.m. match.
