Yen, Chao Finish Fourth At ITA Nationals

Fort Myers, Fla. - Senior Sammy Chao and sophomore Lea Lynn Yen earned a fourth-place finish at the ITA Small College Nationals in Fort Myers, Florida on Friday.

After advancing to the semifinals with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the quarterfinals on Thursday, the Sagehen duo fell 6-3, 6-3 to the eventual champions from Williams (Shoemaker-Curran).

Chao and Yen regrouped in the third-place match to take a 6-1 win in the first set, but took a narrow three-set loss, falling 6-3 in the second set and 10-8 in the pro-set tiebreaker in the third to a doubles team from Emory (Siegler-Satterfield).

Pomona-Pitzer's doubles team earned their way to the ITA Nationals by winning the West Regional on Sept. 29, earning a 7-6, 7-6 win in the finals (9-7 in the second-set tiebreaker to clinch it). The regional title was enough to earn ITA All-America honors for the 2013-14 season.

The Women's Tennis team will begin their traditional spring season in February, including a trip to the ITA Indoor Nationals in Indiana (hosted by DePauw).
