Wang Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Claremont. Calif. - Senior Women's Tennis player Kara Wang (Saratoga, Calif.) was one of 29 female recipients (all divisions) to receive an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the 2013 spring season.

To qualify, student-athletes must excel academically and athletically, be in their final year of eligibility and plan to pursue graduate study. Student-athletes must also maintain at least a 3.2 grade-point average and be nominated by their institution's faculty athletics representative.

Wang was a four-year standout for the Sagehens, earning All-America honors four times (three times in doubles and once in singles). She capped off her career with her fourth All-America selection this spring by advancing to the NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals this spring, along with junior Sammy Chao (Hong Kong).

Wang's efforts helped the Sagehens to a No. 10 ranking in the final NCAA Division III poll, as well as an appearance in the NCAA West Regional finals. She graduated this spring from Pomona College with a degree in neuroscience.

Only four women's tennis players were selected across all divisions, including Maria Foehse of Alabama, Laura Krull of Grinnell, and Jenny Liles of the University of the South.
