CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's swimming and diving team completed their undefeated season in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 152-146 win over rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.
The dual meet victory for Pomona-Pitzer over CMS was the first win for the Sagehens over the Athenas since 2003.
The Sagehens started off the swimming events with a first place finish the 200 Yard Medley Relay with the team of freshman Sarah Jin, freshman Angela Ling, freshman, Erin Bigus and freshman Maddie Kauahi coming in with a time of 1:46.24.
Sophomore Kelsey Thomas won the first individual event for the Sagehens with a first place finish in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 10:42.38.
Ling won her first individual event in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.40 then followed up with a win in the 200 Yard Backstroke clocking in at 2:08.59.
Kauahi claimed first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle coming in at 23.94 and then took first in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 52.44.
Senior Dawn Barlow took first place in the Three Meter Dive competition as she finished with an overall score of 232.30.
The final first place finish for the Sagehens came in the 500 Yard Freestyle as Thomas finished with a time of 5:14.62.
The Sagehens move to 11-1 on the year in dual meets this season and finish the regular season with an 8-0 SCIAC record.
Pomona-Pitzer next travels to La Mirada Splash for the SCIAC Championships beginning on Thursday, February 18th. Prelims will take place at 9 a.m. and the finals will start at 5 p.m.
