Women's Swimming and Diving: #19 Sagehens Defeat Redlands In SCIAC Meet 179-101

REDLANDS, Calif. -- The Pomona-Pitzer women's swimming and diving team defeated the Redlands Bulldogs 179-101 this morning on the campus of Redlands.

Pomona-Pitzer was led by freshman Sarah Jin, freshman Maddie Kauahi and Sophomore Victoria Vanderpoel who each won two events.

Jin won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 59.48 and the 200 Yard Backstroke clocking in at 2:10.13.

Kauahi won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.64 and the 100 Yard Freestyle at 53.53.

Vanderpoel came in first in the 400 Yard IM clocking in at 4:38.87 and won the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:18.39.

The Sagehens started out with a win in the 100 Yard Backstroke as freshman Angela Ling clocked in at 59.61.

Sophomore Kelsey Thomas took first in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:57.62. Sophomore Manon Audebert came in first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle at 2:01.28.

Senior Dawn Barlow won the One Meter Dive competition with a final score of 228.85 and sophomore Kara Miller-Radest took first in the 200 Yard Butterfly at 2:12.76.

The Sagehens ended the meet with a win in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with the team of sophomore Alex Seidel, junior Cayla Nishizaki, Ling and Kauahi finishing with a time of 3:37.92.

Pomona-Pitzer next hits the pool on Saturday, January 30th at 11:00 a.m. against Occidental.
