Women's Swimming and Diving: Sagehens Sweep Chapman and Whitman

ORANGE, Calif. -- The No. 22 ranked Pomona-Pitzer women's swimming and diving team defeated Chapman 219-71 and defeated Whitman 220.50-63.50 on Saturday morning on the campus of Chapman University.

The Sagehens started off the day with the team of Angela Ling, Mackenzie Cummings, Alex Seidel and Cayla Nishizaki winning the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:49.83. Nishizaki also won the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 54.65 and Cummings took first in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:19.06. 

Vee Vanderpoel then won the next event in the 1,650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 18:03.92.

Madison Kauahi won the 200 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 2:00.44, won the 100 Yard Butterfly at 59.98 and won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.43.

Ling went on to win the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.71 and won the 200 Yard Backstroke clocking in at 2:07.17.

Kelsey Thomas took first in the 500 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 5:25.08. 

Kara Miller-Radest won the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:11.58 and Clare Flynn took first place in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:34.24.

The Sagehens capped off the meet winning the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with the team of Nishizaki, Jin, Seidel and Kauahi clocking in at 1:39.15.

The Sagehens next hit the pool on Saturday, January 16th at 11 a.m. as they travel to Redlands.
