Claremont, Calif. - James Luci and Sara Hollar have been added to the Pomona-Pitzer Swimming and Diving coaching staff for the 2012-13 season, it was announced by Head Coach J.P. Gowdy (pictured).
Luci will serve as the program's diving coach after most recently serving as the diving coach at the University of La Verne, where he helped men's divers to top five finishes in the one-meter and three-meter competitions at the 2012 SCIAC Championships, as well as the varsity diving and junior varsity swim coach at The Webb Schools in Claremont.
Previously, Luci was the varsity diving coach at Emory University in Atlanta, where he helped coach one of the women's divers to the NCAA finals. He also coached one of his male divers at Tampa Preparatory school to a state championship in the Class 3A Division.
Luci attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1992 with a major in psychology and a minor in English - Short Fiction. He lettered for four years as a diver for the Quakers, earning All-Eastern honors on two occasions.
Hollar is a Southern California swimming native, but competed at Wheaton College in Massachusetts under Gowdy from 2007-2011. At Wheaton, Hollar was an Academic All-Conference winner all four years and a top conference finisher in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly.
Hollar is currently a Ph.D Student at Claremont Graduate University.
