Meet Recap vs. La Verne

For the final time of their careers, the four senior women on the Pomona-Pitzer swim team competed at Haldeman Pool.  The meet began with a tearful time of recognition and reflection for the seniors who were called up one by one and applauded by those in attendance for their efforts over the past four years.

The Sagehens dominated the meet against the La Verne Leopards from start to finish as they took first place in all eleven of the swimming events, losing only in the two diving events.  The final score was 161-55.

The medley relay of Kimi Ide-Foster (Sr.), Sarah Tuggy (So.), Naomi Laporte (Jr.), and Naneh Apkarian (Sr.) teamed together to swim a 1:58.12 for first place to open up the meet.  Hannah Miller (Fr.) swam to a season best in the 1000 free, going 11:39.83 and taking first in the event.  In the 100 and 200 freestyles, Kristen Lindbergh (So.) took first with times of 2:02.73 and 57.19, barely edging out Kristen Boysen (Sr.) in the 200.  In the 50 free, Charlotte Dohrn (Fr.) swam a 26.39 to take first place and followed that victory up with a second place showing in the 200 fly.  Lizzie Aby took first in the 400 I.M., dropping almost a second from her best in-season time by swimming a 4:48.58.

Swimming the 200 fly for the first time in 2010, Naomi Laporte (Jr.) won in 2:10.42 while in the 200 backstroke, Julia Ticus (Fr.), Kristen Boysen, and Hannah Miller (Fr.) went 1-2-3 to score 16 points for the Sagehens.  In the 500 free, Dana Kingman (Jr.) and Mara McMillen (So.) took first and second with a 5:38.68 and 5:44.71.

At the end of the meet, Sarah Tuggy (Fr.) and Lizzie Aby went 1-2 in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:34.17 and 2:35.84.  To close out the meet in the 200 free relay, the team composed of all four of the seniors on the team including: Kristen Boysen, Katie Tonkovich, Naneh Apkarian, and Kimi Ide-Foster, was just beat out by the ‘A' relay of Kristen Lindbergh, Lizzie Aby, Naomi Laporte, and Charlotte Dohrn 1:47.29 to 1:46.80.
