Pomona-Pitzer Women 2nd at SCIAC Invite
Rose Haag clears the Steeplechase barrier
Pomona-Pitzer's women's track and field team took second place Saturday at the 2009 SCIAC Invite meet at Redlands. The Sagehens scored 102 points to finish ahead of Redlands (81), Whittier (70), Occidental (62), La Verne (53), and Caltech (20).
Individually, frosh Shelley Chestler won the 1500m in 5:07.7, with junior Claire Ryan second in 5:09.3. Pomona-Pitzer's 4x200m relay team of Connie Cheng, Claire McGroder, Jaci Johnson, and Coleen Holliday won in 1:50.72. Frosh Traci Lopez took second in the high jump at 5-1, and frosh Mica Fein took second in the pole vault at 10-0. Junior Ellie Chestnut took two thirds, one in the hammer (135-9) and another in the javelin (105-8).
The Sagehens compete Friday at the Occidental Distance Carnival, as well as SCIAC Lower Quad meet Saturday at Caltech.
