Fein, Haag Set School Records at Home Invite
Two Pomona-Pitzer women's track and field athletes set school records Saturday, April 4 in the 2009 Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. Mica Fein (pole vault) and Rose Haag (steeplechase) established new Sagehen standards in their event to highlight Pomona-Pitzer's strong meet performances.
Under beautiful clear skies and balmy temperatures, Fein cleared 10-8 to break the old Sagehen mark of 10-6 1/4 set by Sara Hastings in 2002. Fein, a frosh, then took three good attempts at 11-2 before calling it a day.
Haag, a junior in her first-ever try at the full 3000m steeplechase, clocked 11:56.24 to break Heather Callahan's mark of 12:05.42 from 2002. Haag finished third overall out of nine runners in the event.
Other strong marks from Pomona-Pitzer athletes included the following: Maddy Kieselhorst's 1500m of 4:51.87 - the number 10 all-time mark in school history; Connie Cheng's 12.99 in the 100m and 16-2.5 in the long jump; Traci Lopez's 34-4.25 in the triple jump - the number 8 all-time mark in school history; and MacKenzie Aries's 116-6 in the hammer - the number 7 all-time mark in school history.
Pomona-Pitzer next competes in the SCIAC Multi-Dual meet at Whittier College on Saturday, April 11.
