      <description>The seventh-ranked Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships with a 5-1 win over conference rival University of Redlands in the third round of the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately, the team drew Emory University in the quarterfinals. The Eagles proved too tough, defeating the Sagehens 5-1, and ending a phenomenal 2009 season.</description>

Entering the tournament of eight teams as the #4 seed, the Sagehens fell 6-3 to the eventual winners, Carnegie Mellon, in the first round.</description>
