Men's and Women's Swim and Dive SCIAC Summary

The SCIAC season dual and conference meets ended very successfully for the Sagehens’ men’s and women’s swimmers. The women tied for second place with perennial power, the University of Redlands, and the men held off challenges from CLU and Occidental with a last day flourish to hold on to 3rd place.
The men and women combined for eight school records, seven in individual events and one in a relay event. New Pomona-Pitzer record holders include: Kristin Lindbergh ('12) in the 50 and 100 freestyles, Sophomore Naomi Laporte, who improved on her own records in the 100 and 200 butterflies, Max Scholten ('12) in the 200 backstroke, David Henderson ('09), who erased two twenty year-old records in the 500 and 1000 freestyle, and the team of Kimi Ide-Foster ('10), Kathleen Hall ('09), Michelle Prokocki ('09), and Janelle Gyorffy ('09) in the 200-medley relay.
Lindbergh, Laporte, and Scholten all met NCAA consideration standards, and are training and waiting for the final determination on March 5 as to whether they advance to the NCAA III championships in Minneapolis.
Adding to the luster of the SCIAC meet were 24 top-three finishes, which designate the finishers as members of the select All-SCIAC swim team.
