Anna Renery '06

Name: Anna Renery
Graduation Year: 2006
Hometown/High School: San Francisco / Lick-Wilmerding HS
Where do you currently live? Buenos Aires, Argentine

What have you been doing since you graduated?
Went to fashion school for a year to study Merchandise-Marketing.  Had an internship with BCBG in LA and then moved back to SF to work at the corporate headquarters for Macys.  After working for a year and a half, I realized that I wanted to have an international fashion career so I applied to internship company in the States that placed me with a fashion designer based out of Buenos Aires.  I moved here in March 2009 and will stay until December.  After December I will either move to New York to work or come back here.  It all depends on my job situation and how long I want to be away from home!

PS  I play soccer every Sunday with boys from around the world (I’m the only girl and it’s awesome).

Where do you see yourself in five years?
I have no idea!  Ideally I will be working for an international fashion company where I can use my Spanish and travel around the world.  I imagine ending up in California with a family, but 5 years seems a little soon for that!

What do you remember most about your experience in the Pomona-Pitzer Women’s Soccer program?
I remember waking up every Saturday morning being so excited to play, it was the best part of the week by far.  I remember going from last place my first 2 years to winning the league my senior year.  But most of all, I remember the friendships I made.  In fact, 4 teammates are or have visited me in Buenos Aires, I’ve lived with 2 teammates at some point since graduating, and I still talk to nearly everyone I played with.  Playing for Pomona-Pitzer was the best part of college.

What makes Pomona/Pitzer special?
I touched on this in my response above, but besides the friendships I think that playing at Pomona/Pitzer allows for a great work-life balance.  You can dedicate yourself to soccer, but don’t have to give up everything else you are interested in.
