Four Players Earn All-Conference Recognition

The 2008 SCIAC Women’s Soccer All-Conference team was
announced November 14th, with four Pomona-Pitzer players earning
SCIAC recognition. Junior Elli Seo received her third consecutive
1st team All-Conference award. Seo was a key player on the
Sagehen attack, picking up four goals and five assists on the
year. Also receiving 1st team recognition was junior Claire
McGroder. McGroder highlighted a strong Sagehen defense that
allowed the second fewest goals in conference play. This is
McGroder's second year of All-SCIAC recognition, as she was named
to the 2nd team in 2006. Freshman forward Katy Metcalf led
the team in scoring this season with six goals. Her stellar
play down the stretch earned her 2nd team All-Conference status and
bodes well for the future. Also recognized by the conference
coaches was senior Lily Hitchner. After two years on the
All-Conference squad, Hitchner’s senior year was cut short
due to injury, but her efforts in the classroom and in the
community earned her the SCIAC Award of Distinction, given to one
player from all the women’s soccer teams in the
conference.
