Women's Basketball Wins Home Opener 96-62


Deidre Chew scored 26 points on nine of 15 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds as the Sagehens defeated visiting Pacific Union College, 96-62 on Saturday. With four players in double-figures, the Sagehens raced out to a 21 point halftime lead to put the game away. Sophomore Lara Hughes-Stinson scored 18 points to go along with eight assists and five rebounds, while her sister Anja Hughes-Stinson chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists. The Sagehens shot 55% (6-11) from beyond the arc in the first half, and then were 12-14 from the free throw line in the second half to ice the game.
