PP Cross Country Named All-Academic Team
The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Cross Country team was recognized by the
US Track and Field and Crosss Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA)
for it's academic and athletic success, being named an All-Academic
Team.
This honor is awarded to teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or
higher and who scored at their respective NCAA Regional meet.
The average GPA for the sagehen’s 23-man roster was
3.49. The team finished 5th at the NCAA West Regional
Championship meet.
In addition, four members of the Pomona-Pitzer Cross Country team were named to the USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Team.
Charles Enscoe (Sr, Pomona College), Paul Balmer (Jr, Pomona
College), Alex Johnson (So, Pitzer College) and Hale Shaw (Jr,
Pitzer College) each earned a grade point average at or above 3.30
during the fall semester.
Beyond their academic performance, each of these athletes finished
in the top 35 at the NCAA West Regional meet. Enscoe finished
14th at the NCAA Regional while Johnson, Balmer and Shaw finished
18th, 26th and 34th respectively. Charles Enscoe and Alex
Johnson went on to represent the Pomona-Pitzer sagehens at the 2010
NCAA Cross Country Championship meet.
