Claremont, Calif. - Senior All-American Max Scholten (pictured) had his final meet at Haldeman Pool and went out in style with two individual wins and a record-setting relay as the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swimming team captured a 179-85 win over La Verne on Saturday.

With the win, the Sagehens improve to 5-2 in dual meets this season, including 4-2 against SCIAC competition.

Scholten's final event came in the 400-yard freestyle relay, and he was part of a team that set a pool record of 3:12.32, breaking the mark set last weekend by Redlands. He also won his top event (the 200 back) in 1:55.07 and won the 50-yard freestyle by a full body length in 21.68.

Scholten wasn't the only senior to have a good day, as Chris Wright won the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:04.62, and Joe LaBriola won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:01.51.

Other winners for the Sagehens included Hugh Berryman in the 100 free (49.29), J.P. Cumming in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:32.22), Kevin Byrne, who edged out Berryman in the 200-yard freestyle 1:50.00 to 1:51.10, and Gabriel Leggott, who won the 100 backstroke in 59.53.

The Sagehens will be back in action on Saturday for their final dual meet of the season at Occidental.
