Hasse Wins SCIAC's Sportsmanship Award

Claremont, Calif. - Senior John Hasse earned the Jesse Clark Sportsmanship Award from the SCIAC, it was announced by the league office.

The Clark Award is voted on by the athletes in the league and recognizes a player who displays good sportsmanship and fair play on the golf course.

Hasse earned the award after previously earning All-SCIAC honors three times in his career, including first-team honors in 2009. He was a second-team selection as a sophomore and junior as well.

This year, Hasse became the first Sagehen in head coach Bernie Walker's tenure to shoot a round in the 60's at the SCIAC Championships, shooting a three-under 69 on the first day of the 36-hole championship. He ended the tournament in 11th place after finishing +5 after the two-day event.

He also began the season by finishing third with a 74 at the Lamkin Grip Tournament, hosted by La Verne, on Feb. 9.
