Sagehen Water Polo Tournament Recap

Over the weekend of September 12-13, the
Pomona-Pitzer Men's water polo team participated in the Inland
Empire Classic tournament, held jointly at the University of
Redlands and the University of LaVerne.
The Sagehens went 1-3 this weekend against top ranked competition,
defeating Chapman 10-9 in sudden death overtime, but falling
to #18
UC Davis (4-8), #10 Concordia University
(10-18), and #8 UC Irvine (2-19). Though
the men struggled at times this weekend, they
proved in the Chapman game that they have heart.
A close game, the Sagehens started off strong and held a 6-2 lead
in the second period. Chapman came back and tied the game up with
40 seconds left in the game, forcing Pomona-Pitzer into overtime.
After two scoreless overtime periods, the game moved into sudden
death, where freshman Mark Hudnall scored the game-winning goal.
The Sagehen scorers were junior Ben Hadley (3), senior David Lee
(2), freshman Mark Hudnall (2), junior Jason Henshall (1), freshmen
Jason Cox (1) and Cody Moore (1).
The Sagehens current record is 2-6. The travel to Stanford
to play against the #1 USC Trojans at 8:30 am Saturday morning.
