Olson Gets 10k Mark to Nationals

Sagehen distance runner Torrey Olson moved one step closer to becoming a 2-time NCAA competitor Thursday, April 16 at the Mt. SAC Relays. Olson, who competed at the 2008 NCAA Division III Cross Country national meet, ran a NCAA Division III Track & Field provisional 10,000 meter mark of 31:09.02 over the 25-lap race.

Results

Olson joins teammates John Mering (1500m) and John Lewis (110mH) who have also run 2009 NCAA qualifying times.  Olson's time ranks him 14th in the nation; while teammates Mering and Lewis are currently ranked 6th and 16th respectively.

Both Mering and Lewis will be in action today as they will try to better their NCAA standings.

Freshman Anders Crabo continued to improve upon his marks in the 3,000m Steeplechase. During April 16's distance carnival, Crabo fought his way to a personal best time of 9:27.61. This performance is a significant improvement over his previous PR of 9:36.40.  Crabo's Mt. SAC time places him less than 1-second away from the SCIAC leading mark.
