Men's T&F Competes Strongly at Home Invite

The track and field team played host to some twenty-five colleges and universities at the 2009 Pomona-Pitzer Track & Field Invitational. The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens had a series of outstanding performances with strong contributions from the sprint and distance squads.

In the 1500m run the team produced six PR's including a SCIAC top-ten marks by freshman Anders Crabo (4:08.69) and senior Torrey Olson.  They join teammates John Mering, and Colin Flynn on the SCIAC top-ten list.  Mering and Flynn hold the no. 1and no. 3 spots respectively.

The team excelled in the 800m run as seven of the Sagehen half-milers ran season best marks - six of which ran all-time best marks.  Among these performances were John Mering (1:53.78); Colin Flynn (1:55.03); Hale Shaw (1:59.46) and Wynton Marsalis (1:59.91).  These athletes were followed closely by teammates Scott Humbarger (2:01.40) and Patrick Halliday (2:02.14).

The sprinters had their share of fine performances, producing times that aptly complemented the distance squad.  John Lewis' 10.91 (100m) and 22.87 (200m) represented all-time best marks for the young sprinter.  The 400m crew held their own on a day marked with great times. Freshman runner Ryan Meyer (51.77) was joined by teammates Cameron Kinslow (52.37), Zak Feldman (52.47) and Stephen Parry (53.36) to produce some of the conference's strong marks.

The meet proved to be a great tune up for the team as they inch closer to the conference championship meet (April 25th).
