Jack Lewis Dominates in the Sprints

Freshman Jack Lewis was a perfect three for three at last week's SCIAC four-way meet.  Lewis was victorious in the 100m (11.11 sec), 200m (23.00 sec) and the 110mHH (15.03 sec).   "Lewis showed great composure in the 110m hurdles" commented coach Boston.  "Jack was pressed from wire to wire by a talented sprinter from the University of La Verne, but he didn't crack under the pressure."  En route to these impressive wins, Lewis defeated the defending 100m conference champion as well as the defending 200m conference champion.

Junior Mike Grier (high jump) also performed well at this competition.  Grier has been consistently jumping in the 5'11 to 6'0 range but was able to muster up a leap of 6'2 ¾ (1.90m).  This jump tied for first place at the meet and brought in 8 points for the Sagehen squad.

Up next for the Sagehens is the California-Nevada Championship Meet hosted by UCLA.   This meet will have some of the best Division I, II and III track and field athletes from both California and Nevada.
