Bruce Brown arrives at Pomona-Pitzer, no stranger to the
conference. As a graduate of Occidental College and founding SCIAC
member UCLA, and as a Men's and Women's Swim Coach at both
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (2000-2001), Occidental (1981-1985), and
Whittier (1976-1981), Coach Brown brings a wealth of experience and
enthusiasm to the Sagehens.
In addition to his other SCIAC coaching positions, Coach Brown
served as the Head Swim Coach at San Francisco State University,
Head Water Polo and Men's and Women's Swim Coach at Cal State San
Bernardino, and Assistant Swim Coach at Stanford University.
During his career, Coach Brown has coached two United States
Olympic Trial Qualifiers, 17 male NCAA Division III All-Americans,
seven female NCAA Division III All-Americans, two SCIAC Swimmers of
the Year, and an NCAA Division III National Champion. Coach Brown
was named the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference Coach of the
Year for 1997, and the Northern California Athletic Conference
Coach of the Year for 1992.
