Caron and Prior Named SCIAC Athletes of the Week
Pomona-Pitzer athletics swept the SCIAC Athlete of the Week
award, as sophomore Quarterback (PI) Jake Caron and senior
volleyball player Megan Prior (PO) were named for their outstanding
performances last week (9/15-21).
Caron led the Sagehens to a 62-35 road win over Lewis & Clark.
Caron led both the passing and running attack, amassing 441 total
yards and 7 touchdowns. Caron rushed for 126 yards and 5
touchdowns, and was 24-32 for 315 yards and 2 touchdowns through
the air. As if that was not enough, Caron also stood in as the
Sagehen's punter, adding a 37 yard kick to his impressive
stats.
Prior led the team to the Tournament Title at the Bridgewater
Invitational. The Sagehens went 4-0 on the weekend defeating
Sweet Biar, Southern Virginia, Randolph and host Bridewater.
Middle Hitter Megan Prior led the team with 50 kills, hitting
an impressive .477 (50 kills-9 errors-86 attempts) for the
tournament and added 5 blocks to her performance. One of her
most impressive performances was against Southern Virginia
University where Megan posted 18 kills with only 1 error in 29
attempts. For her efforts, Megan was named to the All
Tournament Team.
