Coach Pericolosi enters his eighth year as the head baseball
coach at
Pomona-Pitzer. During his time at Pomona-Pitzer, the Sagehens have
captured
three SCIAC championships (2003, 2007, 2009) and have made three
appearances
in the NCAA Division III tournament. His 178 career wins rank him
first
all-time at Pomona-Pitzer.
Before arriving at Pomona-Pitzer, Pericolosi served as an
assistant coach
for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League during
the summer
of 2002. With the Whitecaps he coached current and former Major
Leaguers
including Sean White, Chris Dickerson, Mike Aviles, Taylor
Tankersley and
Anthony Gwynn.
Coach Pericolosi has been involved in international baseball since
2000. He
spent three summers as a Major League Baseball International envoy
coach in
Sweden and two summers as a player/coach for the Leksand
Lumberjacks in
Sweden. In 2000 & 2001, Pericolosi was a player/coach for the
Brussels
Kangaroos in Belgium. Pericolosi served as an assistant coach with
the
Swedish National Baseball Team from 2007-2009.
From 1998 to 2000, Pericolosi was a graduate associate baseball
coach at
Springfield College where he earned a master's degree in physical
education
with a concentration in sport management. Pericolosi began his
coaching
career at Pomona-Pitzer during the 1997-98 school year, serving as
an
assistant football and baseball coach. Pericolosi also was a
member of the
Sagehen football staff from 2002-2005.
Pericolosi is a 1997 graduate of Williams College with a degree in
history.
A two-sport athlete at Williams, Pericolosi was elected captain,
named
All-NESCAC and All-New England Region in baseball and was a member
of two
undefeated football teams. Pericolosi played two summers with the
Middletown
Giants of the New England Collegiate Baseball League and was an
All-Star and
named All-League during the summer of 1995.
Pericolosi is native of Granby, Connecticut and attended Northwest
Catholic
High School in West Hartford where he was named All-State in
baseball and
honorable mention All-State in football during his senior year.
Coach Verplancke is entering his first year on the Pomona-Pitzer
coaching
staff. Veplancke spent the last two summers as the head coach of
the North
Adams Steeplecats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
He also was
the head coach at Colony High School in Ontario, California from
2006-2008.
Verplancke was selected in the second round of the MLB draft by
the Seattle
Mariners in 1998 after his junior year of college and signed with
the San
Francisco Giants after being selected by them in the 11th round in
1999. He
played six years of minor league baseball in the Giants and
Cubs
organizations and played as high as Triple A.
Coach Sussman is entering his first year on the Pomona-Pitzer
coaching
staff. Sussman was an assistant coach at San Diego City College
last year
and was assistant coach with the Fairfax Nationals of the Clark
Griffith
League during the summer of 2009. During the summer 0f 2008,
Sussman was the
head coach for the Orebro Eagles in Sweden.
Coach Conley is entering his first year on the Pomona-Pitzer
coaching staff.
Conley was a four year starter in the outfield at the University
of
Pittsburgh and was named All-Big East Second Team as a senior in
2008. He
spent the past two summers as an assistant coach with the North
Adams
Steeplecats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
