Red Sox Nab Sagehen

Pomona-Pitzer's Drew Hedman has been selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 50th round of Major League Baseball's 2009 First-Year Player Draft on Thursday. He is the third Sagehen since 2003 to be selected in the draft. This honor caps the best offensive season in Pomona-Pitzer baseball history where Hedman hit .489 with 24 home runs and 87 RBIs. He was named National Hitter of the Year by D3Baseball.com, ABCA Rawlings, and the National College Baseball Writers Association.

Hedman will also be featured in the June 15th issue of Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd".
