Baseball Concludes Historic Season


The Pomona-Pitzer baseball team concluded their historic 2009 season at the NCAA Division III Baseball regional this past weekend, falling to tournament champion Chapman University, 5-2.

The team set a program record for most wins in a season with 37, while capturing their fourth SCIAC title in eight years.

Senior Drew Hedman was named conference Player of the Year, and led Division III in home runs (24), RBIs (87), slugging percentage (0.994) and total bases (175). Hedman was named D3Baseball.com National Player of the Year, ABCA Rawlings First-Team All-American, CO-Player of the Year, and West Region Player of the Year.

In addition to the success of Hedman, sophomore pitcher David Colvin and senior shortstop Brandon Huerta were named to the West Region Second Team, and Junior second baseman James Kang was named to the third team.
