Coach Pericolosi enters his ninth year as the head baseball coach at Pomona-Pitzer. During his tenure, the Sagehens have captured four SCIAC championships (2003, 2007, 2009, 2010), made four appearances in the NCAA Tournament and have had four seasons with 30 or more wins. His 209 career wins rank him first all-time at Pomona-Pitzer.

Before arriving at Pomona-Pitzer, Pericolosi served as an assistant coach with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League where he coached current Major Leaguers Sean White, Chris Dickerson, Mike Aviles, Taylor Tankersley and Anthony Gwynn. Pericolosi also spent two years assistant coach at Springfield College where he earned a master’s degree in physical education. He began his coaching career at Pomona-Pitzer, where he served as an assistant football and a baseball coach from 1997-1998. Pericolosi was also a member of the Pomona-Pitzer football staff from 2002-2005.           

Coach Pericolosi has been involved in international baseball since 2000. He has been an assistant coach with the Swedish National Baseball Team for two years and was Major League Baseball International envoy coach in Sweden for three summers. He spent two summers as a player/coach for the Leksand Lumberjacks in Sweden and two years as a player/coach for the Brussels Kangaroos in Belgium. While on sabbatical leave during the fall of 2009, Pericolosi served as an assistant coach with the Geelong Baycats of the Victorian Baseball League in Australia. During the summer of 2010, Pericolosi will serve as a coaching consultant with the San Martino Junior Baseball Club in Italy.

Pericolosi is a 1997 graduate of Williams College with a degree in history. A two-port athlete for the Ephs, Pericolosi was named All-Conference and All-Region in baseball and was a member of football teams that compiled a record of 28-3-1 in four years. Pericolosi played two summers with the Middletown Giants of the New England Collegiate Baseball League and was an All-Star and named All-League in 1995.

Pericolosi is a native of Granby, Connecticut and attended Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford where here was named All-State in baseball and honorable mention All-State in football during his senior year.

Coach Verplancke enters his third year on the Pomona-Pitzer coaching
staff. During his first season at Pomona-Pitzer in 2010, the pitching staff was ranked #6 in the nation in walks allowed per nine innings and #15 in the nation in team earned run average on their way to a SCIAC title and NCAA tournament appearance.

During the summers of 2008 and 2009, Veplancke was the head coach of the North Adams Steeplecats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. He also served as their pitching coach during the summer of 2007. He was the head baseballl coach at Colony High School in Ontario, California from 2006-2008.

Verplancke was selected in the second round of the MLB draft by the Seattle
Mariners in 1998 after his junior year of college and signed with the San
Francisco Giants after being selected by them in the 11th round in 1999. He
played six years of minor league baseball in the Giants and Cubs
organizations and played as high as Triple A.

Coach Sussman is entering his third year on the Pomona-Pitzer coaching
Staff and works with the infielders and hitters. Prior to his arrival at Pomona-Pitzer, Sussman was an assistant coach at San Diego City College and was assistant coach with the Fairfax Nationals of the Clark Griffith League during the summer of 2009. During the summer 0f 2008, Sussman was the head coach for the Orebro Eagles in Sweden.

Coach Chandler enters his second year on the Pomona-Pitzer coaching staff. Chandler began his coaching career as an assistant at UC Davis and played at California Lutheran University. Chandler is a professor in the math department at Pomona College.
