Pomona-Pitzer pitcher David Colvin has been selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 27th round of Major League Baseball’s 2011 First-Year Player Draft. He is the fifth Sagehen since 2003 to be selected in the MLB draft. He will begin his professional career with the Pulaski Mariners of the Appalachian League.
Colvin, who recently graduated from Pitzer College, is the third Sagehen to be drafted in the last three years (Drew Hedman 2009, James Kang 2010). This is another honor to add to the list for Colvin who was named First Team All-SCIAC, Pomona-Pitzer Most Valuable Athlete, and Second Team All-West Region. Colvin posted a 35-7 career record on the mound for the Sagehens.
