The Pomona-Pitzer baseball program clinched the 2010 SCIAC Championship as well as an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Sagehens defeated Redlands 14-5 to increase their lead over Redlands to two and a half games in the conference standings. The Hens were led by David Colvin, who pitched seven strong innings allowing only six hits and striking out eight. James Kang led the offense with four hits, including two triples and six RBIs. This win combined with a CMS win over Redlands on Sunday put the Hens up three games with only two to play and secured back-to-back SCIAC titles for Pomona-Pitzer.
This marks the third SCIAC Championship in four years for the Sagehens and their fifth in the last nine years. Pomona-Pitzer will wrap up the regular season on Friday at Cal Lutheran at 3 pm and at home on Saturday at 1 pm against Occidental.
The Sagehens will then await the announcement of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship field on Sunday May 16th.
