The Pomona-Pitzer men's baseball team hosts Moravian College this Thursday and on Saturday and Sunday the Hens play in the California Classic hosted by Claremont-M-S. During spring-break the Saghens will host four teams visiting from out of state. The first team will be The University of Massachusetts on Tuesday March16th, followed by North Central College of Illinois on Friday March 19th. On Saturday March 20th it will be the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and on Monday March 22nd Lawrence University,also from Wisconsin.
The Sagehens lost two games and won one against Cal Lutheran this past weekend. On Friday playing at Cal Lutheran, the Sagehens scored 2 runs in the 6th inning. Matt Rager hit a single with bases loaded for 2 RBI's. In game two, Mike Witzansky hit 3-4, drilling a homerun, adding an RBI and scoring 2 runs. Tyren Silanpaa recorded the save for the Sagehens in game three, pitching 4 innings, with zero earned runs. The game was tied 0-0 in the first two innings before the Kingsmen scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning. The Hens answered back with 2 of their own. In the 5th inning Cal Lutheran added 3 more runs while Pomona-Pitzer added 4 of their own. The Hens put the game out of reach with 2 more runs in the 6th inning.
Against visiting Allentown College on Monday the Hens fought to an 8-8 tie after nine innings. Each time the Centaurs pulled ahead the Sagehens answered back with big hits of their own. The game will not be continued due to Allentown's packed schedule while they are in the Los Angeles area. Pomona-Pitzer had a chance to win in the 9th with bases loaded and two outs. However, a hard drive caught by the pitcher turned into a double-play to end the game. Ollie Morrison was 4-5, with a double, and 3 RBI's.

3/5 - 3/6 PP at So. Cal. Intercollegiate Golf Championships, 17th place
The Pomona-Pitzer golf team had a rough weekend down in La Jolla placing 17th in the 49th Annual Southern California Intercollegiate Golf Championships. The tournament was held at Torrey Pines Golf Course. The best finish for the Hens was by Luc Schuster, who placed 29th out of the 92 player field. Schuster shot 157 for I8 holes. This week, the Sagehen golf team will play Whittier College. The action will take place at Friendly Hills golf course. On Monday, March 22nd the Hens take part in the Kingsmen Invitational held at Wood Ranch Country Club.

Pomona-Pitzer's women's softball team played four games over the weekend, dropping two to Azusa Pacific on Friday and splitting a double-header with Redlands on Saturday. In the first game against Azusa, the Sagehens came out strong with 4 runs in the first inning but couldn't get another run the rest of the game. Jocelyn Burke was 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI, and a run. Karen Hamilton pitched all seven innings with no walks. In game two on Friday, Emily MacRae was 3 for 3 with 2 runs.
The Sagehens won the second game of a double-header against Redlands Saturday behind the fine pitching of Freshman Josina Morita. Sharon Silveira was 3-4 with 2 RBI's and Jocelyn Burke hit 3-3 with 2 RBI's, a double, and a sacrifice fly. Women's softball will battle against Cal Baptist on Friday and Biola on Saturday at home.

The Pomona-Pitzer men's tennis team played three conference matches this past week winning two and losing one. On Wednesday against Occidental the Hens won the doubles point and five of the six single's points losing only at the number one position. In one of the more challenging matches Sagehen Chris Ross defeated Occidental's Jerry Chou at the #4 singles spot 6-4, 6-2. Traveling to Cal Tech on Friday the Sagehens won easily. The Hens had their SCIAC winning streak snapped Saturday by the Stags. Only James Song (#6 singles) and Chris Ross (#4 singles) won for the Sagehens against Claremont. The men's tennis team has a busy week ahead, hosting four teams. The Sagehens play Emory this Tuesday, the Univ. of Rochester on Thursday, S.U.N.Y-Binghampton on Monday and Skidmore next Tuesday.

The Hens travel Wednesday to play Redlands while hosting Colorado College on Friday. Over spring-break the team will travel to Hilton Head in South Carolina to take on the College of Notre Dame, Amherst College and Transylvania University.
The Sagehens had an easy time defeating the Caltech Beavers on Friday, winning every singles and doubles match. On Saturday in their loss to Claremont-M-S the Sagehens played "a tough, well fought match", according to head coach Ann Lebedeff. Meghan Gould, fresh off the basketball court and with only three days of tennis practice, came back in a tie-breaker. Gould was down in te 3rd set, 6-2 in the tie-breaker before winning the next 6 straight points to clinch her match (5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). Laura Scher and Bridget Humphrey also had good performances in singles as did Gorman/Humphrey in doubles.

Pomona-Pitzer's women's track and field team split against two SCIAC opponents Saturday in a conference multi-dual meet at home on Strehle Track. The Sagehens defeated Caltech, but fell to Occidental. This Saturday, the Pomona-Pitzer track team will compete against other schools at the CSU Fullerton Invite.
At home Saturday, senior Larissa Yocom competed in seven events, winning two, placing second in two, and setting two personal bests. Yocom won the 400 hurdles (67.70) and triple jump (34'5 3/4)--the latter is the #5 all-time PP mark. The other event winner for Pomona-Pitzer was Anastasia Finnegan in the 800m (2:24.54).

Pomona-Pitzer's men's track and field squad downed SCIAC foes Occidental and Caltech Saturday at home on Strehle Track. This Saturday, the Pomona-Pitzer track team will compete against other schools at the Oxy Distance Carnival.
Against Caltech and Occidental, frosh Dreux Dillingham won the 100m (11.10) and took second in the 200 (21.93) for the Sagehens. Dillingham's 200 time is #5 all-time for Pomona-Pitzer. Sophomore Adam Boardman won the 5000m (15:58.14) and took second in the 1500 (4:08.33). Nick Franchini won the 110m hurdles (15.40), and Daniel Krause won the 400 hurdles (58.65). Joe Hartford won the pole vault (12'6), Matt Campbell won the shot (42'8 1/4) and discus (145'9), Dan Wire won the javelin (177'1), and Ed Castellon won the hammer (159'5).

On Wednesday Pomona-Pitzer's women's water polo team lost to Villanova by a score of 10 to 2. Sophomore Claire Townsend scored the first goal unassisted in the first quarter. Senior Molly Grogan scored the next goal in the third quarter on an assist by goalie Marcela De Vivo. Defensively, first-year Hen Marcela De Vivo led the Sagehens with eight blocks while sophomore Alex Hui followed suit with four blocks of her own. The Hens beat the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes with a solid team defensive effort. Molly Grogan led the offensive efforts for the Hens with 6 goals while Katie Carter led in steals with five.
The women's water polo team will take a short break from competition this week, but will be back in action next weekend, playing at home in the Claremont Colleges Tournament.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING Overall: 9-3 SCIAC: 5-1
This Tuesday , the women's swimming & diving team will travel to Miami, OH to compete in the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.
MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING Overall: 8-3- SCIAC: 5-1
No action for the Pomona-Pitzer men's swimming and diving team this week, but next Monday the Sagehens leave to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships, taking place in Minneapolis, MN.
MEN'S BASKETBALL Overall: 17-9 SCIAC: 12-2
3/4 loss Gustavus Adolphus def. PP, 67-37
Pomona-Pitzer's men's basketball team lost in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament to Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minnesota. The game was tied 10-10 after 10 minutes and then Gustavus Adolphus surged to a 23-4 run. In the second half. The Sagehens improved their shooting and fought hard in a well played game but could not over take the Gusties. Jeff Herzog led the rebounding efforts for the Hens with 9 while Jeremiah Martin topped all scorers with 17 points.
The conference basketball coaches announced their selections for All-SCIAC awards. Ray Portela a 6'1" senior guard from Phoenix, Arizona received the prestigious SCIAC Player of the Year Award. Jeremiah Martin, a 6'4" sophomore forward from Beaverton, Oregon and Vaughan Wilson, a 5'9" senior guard from Wilmington, North Carolina both garnered 1st team All-SCIAC honors.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Overall: 17-9 SCIAC: 10-2
The SCIAC women's basketball coaches made All-SCIAC selections this past week. Departing senior center, 6"2' Malia Langworthy from Honolulu, Hawaii was named to the 1st team conference team. Maya Jones a 5'11" sophomore from Seattle, Washington was named to the second All-SCIAC team and Andrea Osgood a senior from Tulsa, Oklahoma was awarded the Ed Baldwin Award for sportsmanship throughout the season.
