Football                                                          1-3 Overall 
The Sagehens were blanked by  a tough Redlands team on the 5th, 37-0.  Early miscues by the Hens put the home team in a big hole that it could not climb out of, as the visiting Bulldogs got off to a 24-0 first quarter lead.  On the day, the Sagehens committed 7 turnovers. 
Offensively for the Hens, Jon Samples carried the ball 10 times for 67 yards and Jeremy Lim got his number called 12 times, running for 37 yards.  Quarterback John Anderson completed 13 of 22 passes for 109 yards on the afternoon.  For the second week in a row, Colin Fahey led the team with 5 receptions, this time for 59 yards and a long of 32 yards.  Benjamin LaCoss and Jon Samples each hauled in 3 catches. 
On the defensive side of the ball, Isaac Salem, Matt Johnson, and Benjamin Warden shared team high honors with 5 tackles apiece. 
In the game, Pomona-Pitzer outgained the Bulldogs on the ground and had only 18 fewer total offensive yards on the day. 

Pomona-Pitzer got into the win column on the 28th with a 27-24 victory over visiting Rhodes College of Tennessee.  The Sagehens got off to a 14-0 lead and led by 17 points with just under 6 minutes to play, but had to rely upon the leg of Eric Nielson in the last seconds to earn the victory.  Rhodes tied the game at 24 with with just over 2 minutes to play, forcing  the Hens to drive the length of the field with no timeouts.  They did just that and Nielson's 25 yarder sailed through the uprights with .5 seconds to play.  The Sagehens had 2 100 yard rushers on the day in Jeremy Lim (144) and Jon Samples (153).  Samples found paydirt twice on the afternoon while Lim scored once.  Quarterback Jon Anderson had a solid game as well, throwing for 206 yards on 10 of 18 passing the ball.  Colin Fahey hauled in 5 of those passes for 90 yards on the day.  Matt Hermsen caught 3 balls on the day, including a huge 40 yard reception to get the Hens down the field on the final drive of the game.  The Hens tallied 536 yards of total offense on the day.
Defensively for the Hens, Benjamin Warden had 10 total tackles to lead the team.  Jonathan Chock was next in line with 9 tackles.  Matt Johnson and Mark Harley each tallied a sack for Pomona-Pitzer.


Men's Soccer                      3-5 Overall       1-3 SCIAC
The Sagehens' early SCIAC woes continued with a tough 2-1 home loss to Cal Lutheran on the 5th.  Alex Pickrell got the scoring started in the 20th minute, but that would be all for the Hens.  Cal Lu found the back of the net late in the first half and early in the second half to take the lead for good.  The Hens outshot the Kingsmen 16-8 but were unable to make good on all but the one Pickrell goal. 

The Hens took on the tough Bulldog team from Redlands and lost on the road, 3-1.  Liam Patrick came off the bench to score the only goal for the Hens.  Wyatt Wells assisted the goal by Patrick in the 75th minute of action.  The goal by Patrick was the only goal by any team in the second half, as Redlands got out to a strong 3-0 lead in the first that proved to be too much to overcome.

Pomona-Pitzer fell to rival Claremont-M-S on the 28th by the score of 3-1.   Mario Velez came off the bench to score the lone goal for the Hens in the 73 minute of action.  It would be too little too late, however, as C-M-S closed the deal with another goal in the last minute of action.  Jay Schneider tallied 7 saves for the Hens on the afternoon.


Volleyball                           4-11 Overall       1-4 SCIAC
The Sagehen squad traveled to Eagle Rock on the 5th to take on Occidental and fell to the host Tigers by 3 games to none.  Renee Faulkner and Colleen Chrisco again shared team high honors with 7 kills apiece.  Alison Rindlaub led the Hens defensively with 9 digs on the evening.  The Hens hit just .158 on the night while the Tigers finished the night with a .300 hitting percentage.

Pomona-Pitzer hosted defending National Champion La Verne on the 4th and fell to the Leos in 3 games.  Renee Faulkner and Colleen Chrisco each had 8 kills for the Hens to share team high honors.  Jeannie Kenmotsu led the team in both assists (23) and digs (11).  Susan Caplow came up with 10 digs on the evening.

The Hens fell to 1-2 in SCIAC on the 1st with a loss at Whittier.  Colleen Chrisco had a team high 10 kills to go along with 11 digs on the night.  Liz Shatzer again led the team with 14 digs and Jeannie Kenmotsu had 19 assists to take team high honors. 

The Hens traveled to San Diego on the 28th of September to take on Alliant International and got swept in 3 games.  Renee Faulkner led the Hens with 9 kills on the night.  Colleen Chrisco had 8 kills of her own to go with her 6 digs.  Liz Shatzer led the team on the defensive side with her 11 digs.  Alysha Lascano had a team high 19 assists on the evening.

Pomona-Pitzer lost a tough contest to rival C-M-S on the 27th.  The Athenas won the first two games before the Hens rallied to win game 3.  But, C-M-S sealed the victory with 31-29 triumph in game 4.  Colleen Chrisco had a great game for the Hens with 14 kills and 16 digs on the night.  Renee Faulkner and Jessica Rybka each had 12 kills on the night.  Liz Shatzer led the team defensively with 20 digs.

The Hens split two matches on Tuesday the 24th, falling in 3 straight games to Chapman, then defeating Caltech in 3 straight to begin SCIAC play.  Against Chapman, Renee Faulkner led the Hens with12 kills.  Colleen Chrisco was next in line with 9 kills and led the team with 15 digs in the contest.  Jeannie Kenmotsu dished out 18 assists and Alysha Lascano had 14.  In the evening match against Caltech, the Hens got 9 kills from Jessica Rybka and 7 apiece from Elena Shih and Renee Faulkner.  Shih also led the team with 8 digs.  Jeannie Kenmotsu had a team high 9 assists. 


Women's Soccer              2-9 Overall         1-4 SCIAC

The Hens traveled to Cal Lutheran on the 5th and fell to the Regals by the score of 4-0.  Cal Lu scored in the 6th minute and then tallied 3 more within a 10 minute span to seal the victory.  The Sagehens were able to get off 17 shots on the day, but none found the back of the net.

Pomona-Pitzer fell to Redlands on the 2nd by the score of  2-0.  The Bulldogs got one goal in each half while holding the Sagehens to just 2 shots on goal for the game.  Alison Mathis made 8 saves in net for the Hens. 

The Sagehens got their first SCIAC win of the season at La Verne on the 30th.  Kate Sundquist scored a second half goal on an assist from Ashley Thompson and Sarah Staller to give the Hens the 1-0 win.  Alison Mathes got 6 saves between the posts for the shutout win.

The Sagehens walked across the street to take on rival C-M-S and lost a tough 3-2 overtime contest.  Anna Renery and Katherine Moskop scored the two goals for the Hens.  Renery's goal put the Hens ahead by the score of 2-1 with 25 minutes to go.  But, C-M-S found the back of the net with 10 minutes remaining and then again 7 minutes into the overtime frame to claim the victory.  Renery also provided the assist on the goal by Moskop.  Moskop and Sarah Staller assisted the goal by Renery.


Men's Water Polo               2-12 Overall     0-0 SCIAC
The Men's Water Polo squad played five games at the Slugfest Invitational in Santa Cruz on the 28th and 29th of September.  The Hens went winless over the weekend, falling to rival Claremont-M-S, Santa Clara, Air Force, U.C. Davis, and host U.C. Santa Cruz.  The Hens came closest to victory against the Stags of C-M-S.  They took a 4-3 into the second half but were outscored by 5-1 in the 3rd period and ended up falling by the final of 9-6.  Ben Speicher led the scoring over the weekend with 11 Sagehen goals in the 5 games.  Ian Kusao was next in line for the Hens with 5 goals in as many games.  Carlo Diy played well in net, coming up with 34 saves, playing in all 5 games.  Coach Jason Gall summed up the weekend by saying, "We are continuing to improve wich each game.  Five games in 2 days was tough but it will help us in the long run.  Players are becoming more confident and are becoming more comfortable with their roles on the team."
Women's Cross Country 0-0 Overall       0-0 SCIAC
Pomona-Pitzer's women's cross country team sent a 'B' squad to compete in the Biola Invivational Saturday the 5th in La Mirada Park, and the team came away with a raft of seasonal bests.
Frosh Kyra Borg led the Sagehens with her 58th place in 20:56 over the 3 mile course. Following Borg for Pomona-Pitzer were Molly Unruhe (66th, 21:20), Sarah Takahashi (67th, 21:35), Laurel Williams (71st, 21:44), and Kelsey Ferguson (75th, 22:05) to round out the top five.
The squad finished 9th out of 11 teams with 274 points.

Pomona-Pitzer's women's cross country squad competed admirably in the Stanford Invitational Saturday in Palo Alto on the 28th of September. As one of only two NCAA III teams in the meet, the Sagehens finished 22nd out of 33 squads, including tough NCAA I and NCAA II teams from around the country.

Senior Laura Bishop finished a strong 37th in 22:17 over the 6000m course (3.7 mile), and was followed by teammates Amy Rapp (120th, 23:31), Nika Strzelecka (152nd, 24:07), Ann Prouty (172nd, 24:40), and Susie Roley (173rd, 24:41).


Men's Cross Country        0-0 Overall       0-0 SCIAC
Braden Boice ran 28:25 to finish 20th and pace the Hen harriers. Following Boice for Pomona-Pitzer were David Marshall (25th, 28:37), Chase Roth (54th, 31:12), Andrew McDavid (57th, 31:27), and Perris Straughter (62nd, 31:58).
The squad finished 7th out of 9 teams with 191 points.

Pomona-Pitzer's men's cross country team competed well Saturday in Palo Alto on September 28th at the Stanford Invitational. The Hen Men took 19th place out of 30 teams, including tough NCAA I and NCAA II teams from around the country.

Frosh Crosby Freeman (83rd place) clocked an outstanding 25:31 over the 8000m (5 mile) course to lead Pomona-Pitzer. Following Freeman for Pomona-Pitzer were Nate DeFelice (112th, 26:03), Chris DuBois (120th, 26:10), Golden Krishna (186th, 27:16), and Braden Boice (198th, 27:30).
